Animal Friends Passed

Here are some older pencil drawings done of some of the pets I've had who are no longer with me:
This is Quentin my first dog ever--a crazy pit bull mix I rescued from the pound. The best $30 I ever spent.

This is Wicca my 170lb Newfoundland. She was a massive girl and obviously the boss dog!

Cosmo my wife's cat she rescued from a closing shelter before I met her. She was one lucky cat.

Having tried half heartedly to do something similar lately these are all the more remarkable ^^.

That one of Quentin is great. Nailing the 3dimensionality of the forms (that collar is so crisp, and cylindrical forms (deformed by a body no less) are a right pain). The comic influence is a bit prominent on the metal collar bits (inked a bit heavy for me), but the efficiency of communication in the fur is awesome.

The Wicca one is looser, but it works. Personality is coming through, and it doesn't look fussy at all.

And the other is a cat...

Nothing against cats mind you ;)

Thanks, Kary!

About the collar--I absolutely know. Every time I look at that drawing that's all I see--those big clunky tags. That's how you learn, though, I guess.
